So in a previous post I had posted that our 1 year old hen got attacked by a dog. We took her to the vet, they cleaned her up, stitched her up and gave antibiotics.

We kept her separated in a smaller coop within the main coop for about 2 weeks. Wow, did she loose alot of weight! She is back with the flock, her feathers have grown back, wound is healed and maybe gained a tiny bit but is still very thin. I feel sorry for her because since the attack she is very skittish and keeps to herself. It's sad.

Any ideas about the weight loss?

Well I think trauma can make an animal thin. I would make her some special stuff like chicken feed mash, or bread soaked in egg and cooked a bit. Anything to get a good appetite going. And watch her in case of another infection popping up.
