Weightloss Goal

Great thread!

I have been partaking in a healthier lifestyle since January. One of the best things I did was to join the website www.healthywage.com

This website will pay you $100 if you go from "obese" to "normal" weight in the time span of a year. You don't have to give them a dime. They also have pay-in options. You can give them $150 dollars, and they will give you $400 or you can give them $300 and they will give you $1000. I started back in January and have lost 25 lbs, and I need to lose another 12 to get to my "normal" weight. It's been a great way to keep me motivated though. When I think I really don't care any more, I start thinking about those $$$ and I can motivate myself.

Good luck to everyone!

Great! I am happy for you!

As for me, having no scales at home, failing the diet so much.....gotta keep trying! I honestly need to get rid of all the crackers and Cheetos out of my cabinets! It was mostly for DD's school lunches.

I also had a friend tell me this the other day.

She doesn't have any "can't eat" foods, instead she has a list of "must eat" foods that she must eat every day. So she has things on there like 4 servings of vegetables, X protein, Y whole grains. She says its liberating to not feel like she HAS to stay away from something, and also to not have the ensuing guilt which occurs after she invariably eats it.

the way I do it is I try to eat good all day and at dinner well, I forget to count calories and x amount of bad things LOL. I am not a big breakfast eater so it is usually like 2 snacks and lunch but I do love mini wheats. They are delish. Also very full of fiber which is excellent. Do not discourage yourself about a failing "diet" your diet is only what you make it. You make the rules so there is no failing. Only re-establishment. Just try to eat in moderation and you can have those crackers and cheetos or chips or ice cream etc. If it is one thing that I have learned recently it is that. I too have tried and failed many times over that last several years. I tried to take diet pills and stuff but I suck at keeping up with that stuff LOL. I havent even made it to the gym in a week and a half but have still lost 6 lbs within that time so it can be done. If I can do it so can all of you

. So just stay positive. That is important.

Yep I got Wheat Thins and they are delicious! If given the chance I would eat the whole box! But a handful will suffice for now.

I can do small meals thru the day instead of three times a day.

I will NOT count calories or sort thru the bad things, its too stressful and I would eat more than I needed to. What I do know is to stay away from white stuff like white bread, white rice and trade it for whole wheat bread without the first four ingredients as corn syrup, try to eliminate corn syrup and more fruits.

YAY!! Cool thread. I've lost 25 lbs. and I need to lose another ~35 to be at my healthy weight. It's taken me 6 months, but that is helping me to make sure I can keep it off and still live normally. It's not so much dieting for me as it is getting rid of bad habits.

I don't have a list of food I CAN'T eat either. I just eat "bad" food in extreme moderation. We also have free day where we get to eat what we want as long as the portions are healthy. I'm a list person so I just keep track of what I have eaten during the day and how much exercise I've gotten. It helps me see where I need to improve. I through it away every week and start new every Monday. I use a scale and a tape measure to keep track of my results.

For exercise I made a mix of songs with an ascending beat and the kids I just dance in the afternoon before I start on dinner. We take long walks and ride our bikes in the evening. Oh yeah and I do housework as FAST as I can, that is a good cardio!

I did Tai Chi and Yoga and really liked it. Really helped my back and neck pain.

The neighbor's pear tree is in full fruit, so I always have a small snack at around 3 in the afternoon. I do crossing duty at the school, and eat my fresh picked pear on the way. YUMMM!!!! I'm glad he's free with the fruit tree.

and springchickens, that is an AWESOME idea. i think too often that weight loss/diets/exercise because this really negative thing that we only look at in terms of what we CAN'T have, or what we HAVE to do, etc. i pretty much do what she does, but i need to get better w/ eating more fruit!

congrats to you, allthesecreatures! you're so close!!! i'm glad so many people in the tread are eschewing "diets" in favor of just eating healthy foods, in healthy proportions, and getting a bit of exercise. for most of us, that's all it takes!
