I have always had RIR but fir some reason I have 1 hen who is just not putting the weight anymore. I weighed her and she is 2.6 lbs and that she seems so small for rir? Is it really true RIR should be no left than 6 lbs for hen? She I deworm her just in case? She's eats like a pig free ranges all day but just doesn't weight anything. The largest rir is 3.4 lbs. Still small I would thing. Does anyone have thoughts on this?

I asked on your other post...

What do you feed them? Do they free range? Have you ever wormed them or seen any signs of worms?
I have never wormed them, I haven't seen any signs of worms other than weight loss. I feed them layer feed crumbles ( they hate the pellets) 16 % protein a treat of meal worms daily, a side dish always kept full of scratch and peak oyster shells..the free range they only time they are locked up at all if bed time. Other than that they are roaming.

They shouldn't have free access to scratch, that's a treat for once or twice a week. It's not good for them.
Try switching to a higher protein feed, a bird will eat until their nutritional breeds are met and 16% layer is barely enough nutrition for dual purpose birds, let alone a high production bird.

Oh shoot I didn't mean scratch I meant oyster shell a side of oyster shell. I don't feed them scratch at all they just get their meal worms in the Morning, the layer crumbles and oyster shells. And what ever they find while roaming. What brand do you suggest in feed? Purina layena is what I've been using for them.

Any higher protein feed, you want atleast 18% protein. Chick feed, flock feed, high protein layer. Etc
