Hello members. So I have my Ameraucana, her name is Brighton and she is about a year old as of last week. Also last week, the left side of her beak started to detach and now it looks like the entire first layer of the top is gone. I don't know If this equates but imagine a human and the first layer of our skin is removed from our nose (just how it seems). Luckily she isn't bleeding and isn't showing any signs of pain, but she can't eat certain things that she usually loves to. For example eating a leaf requires too much pressure and I break it up for her, as well as the spine of a lettuce leaf Also seems like too much pressure. Romaine lettuces to be precise.
You can see the line where it separates and i Really don't know what to do. I've tried to touch it and it doesn't feel soft or bad, but not strong and boney like the way it used to be.
She's our sweetest and friendliest girl and we'd be devastated if anything happened to her please help. It is slightly discolored but hard to tell until you get really close to her. The piece that broke off was much bolder and greener like her feet, well Ameraucana feet lol. Got some pictures too. Thank you
Also because of an hoa issue we gave the rest of our girls away so she's sadly the only one remaining, and with her beak in the way it is we didn't want to give her away. But I'll be posting that story in another thread.
This is how it used to look for comparison before the top layer was gone.
