Hiya!

My Buff Brahma, Churches, seems to have something weird going on with her beak. I got all 6 of my birds from CL, and I knew it was a gamble, but this was the only option my husband gave me to start off with, and I don't mind having already full grown and laying girls to kick start my new chicken love! Because they were from CL, they were all extremely skittish and I couldn't get real close to them so I honestly didn't notice this until a yesterday when I was finally able to get some of them to eat out of my hand.
The top half of her beak is a little funny shaped. The tip looks like it was either broken off and then worn down, or just worn way down. So her bottom beak is a little longer than her top beak. I know she dribbles a lot when she drinks, but so does my EE and her beak is normal. I was just wondering if this is ok? Or if there is something I need to do about it? I have a couple pictures but the quality is not great so it's a little difficult to see. I will try to get a better one today.

Kerp her on close observation to make sure she is able to eat and drink fine...ig she is I wouldnt worry to much however if she is struggling to eat or drink she made need to be culled to prevent a slow starvation

Either she had her top beak clipped OR she broke it off, "DE-BEAKED" chickens can still eat just fine. Do keep a close eye on her that she doe not lose weight. It will take awhile for more beak to grow back...hope this is helpful :)

Well FEUF! I'm just glad she'll be alright! I'll definitely keep an eye on her and make sure she's eating as best i can. I have a bunny cage i can use to keep her indoors if i need to, but she seems happy and healthy a far as i can tell!
