Do we pop it? Leave it alone? What might have caused it? Or does it just happen sometimes? Not really sure what to do. We got all our chickens as chicks last spring, and this is our first time raising and caring for chickens!

Does it stink? Are other hens affected? Stinking would mean tha it is infected, and if other hens got lumps like that too, it is contagious.

I would observe it closely and maybe seperate her. If it grows, you can try to pop it with a sterile needle and remove the content of it. Then flush it with clear water and apply antibiotic oinment or antibacterial spray.

Visiting a vet and letting him take a sample for analysis would be the best decision, but it shouldnt be too bad anyways.

Keep us updated!
