Found an egg in the run today. First time since the first week or two of them laying. The funny thing is, they all wanted to stay in the coop all day. It was blowing snow and colder than it has been in a while. So why go out in that and lay an egg? :barnie

Must have picked that spot.I have had some pick weird spots to lay.Could keep them locked up if the coop is big enough,so she has to go eventually in the nestbox.

The thing is, I haven't had an egg outside a nest since the first week or two that they started laying back in October. So I don't know what possessed this pullet, who has obviously been laying in the nest all this time, to suddenly feel like she wants to lay outside in the freezing cold wind and snow. Really strange.

I don't think I would have to lock them up today though. We've got several inches of snow on the ground right now and the chickens seem to hate it. I hate it too.
