Weird dance

My female button quail was just put with a new companion and she’s been doing this weird thing where she pecks the ground and rolls on her side and scratches the ground with her feet, what does this mean? The new companion is a male.

Sounds like she's trying to impress him! Cute! Do you think the feeling is mutual? You might see him tidbitting to her or holding his wings down a little as he runs in front of her.

I think she's dust bathing in the bedding? Maybe the cage has a different - or cleaner - bedding than she's used to. That usually triggers dust bathing behavior.
