Weird 'Dance'?

Fluffy love you long time! My partner's African Grey tries to mate with her too. Just don't encourage the behavior. Ignore it when it happens and maybe when the hormone surge passes he will come back to his senses.

One of my Jersey Giant roo's favorite things. He likes to do it first thing in the morning after he comes out of the coop. I think he does it because he knows I get a kick out of it.

My roos make these weird growling noises sometimes, whether dancing or not. Don't know if it's really the horororo sound but it's different from the typical crow. I figure it's just another roo thing and I'm not sure I care what it means, just as long as no mayhem ensues. One of my roos does the sideways skitter with me and sometimes it appears to have a challenging element to it. Maybe it's just a haughty flamenco dancer look and I'm not interpreting it correctly. He's a Silkie and it's sort of hard to take all that strutting seriously. I mean, when viewed from behind, he still looks like a kid in a snowsuit.

Anyway I got to the point I kept an eye on him when he was acting tough and would catch him when he went to pounce. I'd pet on him and carry him around with me for a while and he quit pouncing on me. I've seen my current roo skitter sideways with the wing feathers dragging when he is around the younger pullets. Whom ever does not respect the threat dance gets a good pecking. So I am pretty sure the wing dragging, skittering sideways is very much a challenge thing. My current roo is not yet old enough or confident enough to threaten me, he knows I'm not afraid of him. But I have never had a roo doing a courting type dance for me, maybe I am not the "chicken" type

Oh gosh, Mtngrl, I too practice Corporeal Cuddling! My skittering Silkie doesn't skitter at me so much anymore but if he does, he runs off very quickly. Maybe he understands that the opposite of "killing with kindness" ain't so great.
