One of our three hens laid this today. She doesn’t lay very often - her last egg was a fairy egg. We don’t know how old she is - we acquired her a year ago. The other two lay most days, big lovely healthy eggs. They free-range all day and have access to calcium and pellets. Is she just getting old or should we be worried?

Well, isn't that just the odd egg! I honestly don't know what to say about it but I'm sure that someone will be along very shortly that may have an idea. *cue elevator music*

Could it be lash egg?

It could be a lash egg but lash eggs usually are squeezable, not rubbery in the way a soft shelled egg is but rubbery like a super ball or one of those stress balls. If you open the egg it will not generally have "egg stuff" inside it will look more like if you cut a cabbage in half down the center. My guess is the chicken was/is egg bound, this is very much like the egg of an egg bound chicken. Here is a link to where you can find out everything you want/need to know about egg bound issues. https://www.thehappychickencoop.com/egg-bound-chicken/
