Looking for eggs hasn't gotten old yet. My girls are really starting to lay. I think 3 of 5 are so far. Today I found 3. But one kinda surprised me. Brown with white speckled? I've never seen this before does it mean anything in particular? Or is it just an oops?

This is the only pic I have of one. And this was after being washed. 2nd row from the bottom and between the white eggs.

Such a pretty bunch of eggs!! When I bought my chicks I didn't think about egg color but I'm starting to regret it. I would love to get some more variety. I love seeing different color combinations.

I started with brown egg layers, it was all the farm store had. Then I hatched some eggs out and boom.

Looks like it could be urates.....or excess calcium...or excess bloom.

'Speckled' eggs can happen for several different reasons...very few, if any, of which are a 'problem'.
Can be caused by:
Excess or uneven pigment coating.
Excess or uneven cuticle(bloom).
Excess calcium deposits.
Porous eggs can appear speckled.
Some birds lay them consistently, some only once in awhile.
The pigment or bloom can change appearance when wet, then change back when dry again.

As long as bird is getting a good diet and is healthy in every other way, it is no cause for concern.
