Weird egg

Found this in nest box tonight. Any ideas on cause? It’s hard and calcified just very wrinkled

If this is the only one, then it is just a "one off." It usually comes with an oversized egg where the soft shell over stretches and wrinkles.

If you start getting a lot of these eggs, it can mean disease such as IB (infectious bronchitis). But, if everyone is healthy and it's just the occasional egg (usually from an older hen), there is nothing to be worried about.

Have you broken it open?
Is the shell really thick?

Likely a shell gland malfunction, might be a one off or might not be.
I doubt it's anything you can 'fix'.

I have 4 hens. They appear to be in good health. I’ll continue to keep an eye on them.
