I get some strange ones like that too. Only from our leghorns though.

we got one like that once and it was weird on the inside so we didn't eat it. be careful!

Our hens started laying about a month ago. Some egg shells seemed thin to me and they have the oyster shell available in the coop all the time. I started to spill some out around the feeder to make sure they knew it was there. Quality of the shells are improving.

thanks for posting that link... i just got a flat sided egg and the light was on longer last night then I meant for it to be... very interesting.
