What causes this???? This egg was in the nest. It's very weird looking. WHY???

I am pretty sure it comes out of a hen that lays eggs that look like this sometimes

This has only just started going on for the past two months or so. It's not every egg, but most of her eggs look like the third picture. The top two pictures are the first time I have seen that. WHY???

Thanks!

It could be a calcium issue. It looks like the egg cracked and mended it's self. Search for the post with the weird egg link in it. It's very helpful.

I don't think it is a calcium issue, they are getting supplimental oyster shell. Could it be too much calcium?

That looks like a body check egg to me. The ridges are the shell healing it self. Usual causes are stress or older layers. Everything I've read said there is no need for concern.
When I've given too much calcium, the shells just got harder, or becks and nails were trimmed more often.
I would add vit. D and Potassium supplement to their water, see if anything changes.

Thanks. She's not an old layer, but I am wondering about stress and what could be stressing her out. Do you think adding Durvet Vitamins and Electrolytes will help? I had been adding Poly-Vi-Sol to the waterer.
