My pet chicken , Kitty , is now 6 months old. It turned out to be a rooster. I had to leave for a while and she has been in her cage. My mom fed and watered her , but has never took her out for sun. I came back to see her waddles all gray and shriveled. After some care and outside time she is looking back to normal , but for some reason on her neck and head she sprouted yellow feathers! One on her head is even orange! I don’t know why. Both her parents are black ( one a silkie and one a jersey giant ) so I don’t know why this would happen! The silkie is purebred and the giant is just black , no orange parents from what I’ve heard. Is this because of stress or something?

My guess would be that there must be some recessive gene in there somewhere that got passed down and has now surfaced in your bird. Looks cool.
Oh! That’s a relief. I was worried it was caused by stress or something. Now I know not to be worried by her mysterious crown!
