Weird looking black copper marans chick

Hello
I recently hatched 6 marans eggs frim my breeder black copper marans birds
The chicks look good (black back ,grey/white belly ,feathered feet etc)
Except for 1 that looks a little different
I am very confused as to why this one came out different than the others
I know He is a black copper marans becuase he hatched from a black copper marans egg

I know the parents have blue genes could he be half blue or something?

It's a cutie, that's for sure. I'd say (no expert here) that a blue maran chick would look like the blacks but with dark blue where they are black. This odd one out looks to have white coming through in its wing. Maybe it's going to be mottled. Hopefully someone else will chime in with a guess as to what is going on. Do keep posting pictures as it grows up as I know I'd like to see how it turns out, and it may help someone else who comes across this in the future.

I think there are 2 more of them with white feathers on wings but i read somewhere that they lose the white feathers as they grow

There is a Black Copper Maran discussion thread that's still active - you could post your chick there and see if anyone there has come across this before. We don't have Marans in my country unfortunately - wish we did as their eggs are an amazing colour. I'd still love to see how this chick turns out.

We do have marans but none lay dark eggs sadly they only make 3-4 on the egg chart

WOW! I thought they all layer dark eggs. Those are gorgeous chicks. I'm just hoping our BCM is a female (has the typical larger comb as BCM so just getting worried)

i also heard a lot from other breeders that none of their purebred marans lay dark eggs
So i guess the ones that lay dark are quite rare

Wow That Kind Of Is A Bummer, The Kids Will Be So Upset.

The color of the feet gives me pause...it's not the right color for a Marans.
