Several of my chickens have droppings that look like I have never seen before. Does anyone know what this can be from? We did recently change their food to Cluck & Co Chick crumbles. It looks like they have black specks and yellow.

The speckled poop does look unusual and contains some undigested corn, and the second picture is of some cecal poop mixed in with the speckled poop. Cecal poops come from the cecum where food is fermented between the small and large intestines.

After looking at the label of the feed, it looks to be a little like scratch and peck feed. I prefer a chick crumble where every bit is the same and uniform. Sometimes they can pick out the best parts, leaving some of the nutritious bits when there are bits of cracked corn, barley, and other grains.

Sometimes the easiest and best way to rule a feed in or out as an issue is to try a different brand. I've done that in the past when I see a change in my birds that isn't for the better. I used one brand several years ago and had a sudden uptick in crop issues. It was the feed, and I no longer use that brand. Feeds can change formulas batch to batch based on supply chain, and different brands can vary. Sometimes there may be an ingredient that they have more trouble digesting that may be less in other brands. I would switch to another and see if the issue stops.
