I caught one of our more skittish Americana hens today, and realized something off about her neck. I took a closer look, and there was some tan mite like bug in her feathers and odd white clumps of white things that I’m assuming may be the eggs on the base of her feathers right under her beak. She acts normal and it does not seem sensitive. We do have one rooster with dust mites in the process of treating, but any suggestions or diagnosis?? I’ll attach some of the photos I managed to get without her freaking out.

She's an Easter Egger and yes, it looks like she has lice.

You will want to get a bottle of permethrin based poultry spray and treat her (and everyone else in the flock) by spraying down to the skin under each wing, under her hackle feathers on her back, on her chest, under her chin and in her fluff under her vent. Repeat in one week and again in 2 weeks.

I would also strip the coop, sweep/shop vacuum it out, spray all wood surfaces paying attention to the places where wood meets wood then rebed with fresh bedding. Just to be safe. Lice live on the birds but I'd rather just clean out and treat the coop to be thorough.

Ok, Thank you so much!! That clears a lot up. 😁

lol I get that a lot with her. She’s an Americana just with Easter egger coloring and markings lol.
She is not of an accepted color for an Ameracauna.
An Americana is not a breed. It is how hatcheries get away with selling EEs as Ameracaunas.
Where did you get her?

Ohhh. We got her and her sister at east farm feed, a small business here. Here’s a photo of her sister
