weird nasally honk coming from chicken

One of my hens did it when she was younger. I posted here and several other people had seen it, too. Apparently it was a behavioral thing and she outgrew it.

I had a hen last week that sounded the same way. Unfortunately she was on the perch. Lost her breath while honking , passed out , fell over backwards and snapped her neck. I was devastated. Good luck with yours.

OK...it isn't heat ot pollen. A few of mine have started and it is COLD here and winter...so not pollen or heat. I just started searching to see what it could be. Anyone????

My bossy, always-complaining Daphne, an Easter Egger that is almost 1 year old (where did the time go?) does the honking all of the time. She's not in distress, she's not sick, she just thinks she's a goose. No other issues with her - eats fine, roosts fine, active, lays well.....she just honks. She's done this for several months. It scared the pee-wadding out of me when I first heard it, but now we know it's just Daphne letting us know she's out there.

Not that either. Started with one young cockerel and after about 3 weeks several birds both sexes are doing the same.

I have one frizzle silkie it of 7 other chicks and she is the only one who makes a honk vs a chirp. I don’t believe she’s sick I think it’s just her having a deep voice

My chickens have been doing this. They are easter daggers. Some but not all do it. I've been reading up on it. While the above mentioned can be a cause, it is quiet possibly GAPEWORM. So, I figured I'd go ahead and treat them. The problem is the only country that sells the wormer with levison is in new Zealand....go figure. It says you can worm with ivermectin, but that wont kills the adult worms. Another suggestion was oral dose of goat wormer....I'm thinking yeah sure I'm gonna catch all 25 birds and pray open mouths a drench everyday for 5 days...haha so needless to say, I'm gonna do pour on ivermec and hope for the best. They arent acting I'll or sick, so idk. But this batch sounds like geese rather than chicks!
