It depends on your local codes. Where I live, we have to have a permit to replace a window! You should check with your city/county to find out. They may have them online, our county does.

We've got some slightly odd neighbors, but they're mostly just poor parents rather than "weird"... which is very unfortunate.

Other than that, I'm fairly sure we're the weird neighbors. Perfectly normal, very clean neighborhood... then there's us. The mailbox made of rust is the first thing you notice. Then you look in the back yards of everyone. Clean & normal, clean & normal, clean & normal, clean & normal, then you come to us and see CHICKENS. Two butt-ugly homemade chicken coops with incessantly bickering birds. Corn growing in one of the garden beds, in addition to numerous other plants in the others. Garden beds are constructed of plywood and surrounded by metal or wooden stakes with netting between them to keep the half-idiot dog out. There are bare spots in the grass where the chicken tractors have been. If you're especially lucky, you get to see a dead rabbit/raccoon/rat that the dog killed or me executing a paralyzed possum with a .22 rifle. There's a doghouse that looks like it was built in the Soviet Union.

This is why I like BYC. I feel normal.

I have weird neighbors.. None of them have chickens, none of them have veggie gardens, none of them grow Cabernet grapes in their front yards.. maybe they are all robots or aliens

I have already posted about my neighbors on here but i spoke to my brother and he asked me to nominate his neighbors. Where to begin? When he first moved in, they would come over only a few time a day to borrow normal stuff like sugar, coffee, duct tape, shovels, (i told him add some lime and you have primary suspects in missing neighbor cases), ect.. after a few months they began to borrow more garden tools and when he told them he needed them back they would ask him to please return them when he was done. The last time they asked to borrow his garden hose nozzel he told them they were only a dollar at walmart. They suggested he pick himself up a new one on his next trip so they could have his old one. They are always staring at him at his fenceline when he comes home like "neighbors from the corn" or something. He refers to the forty yr old drug addict daughter who lives with them as "she who walks behind the one sided glass" because she has been arrested so many times. Her last time was a greatest hits event. She was arguing with her father who wouldnt give her drug money and then she attacted him. The mom came out with a tazer and shocked her off her father. My brother called the cops and when they got there apparently she forgot the tazer hurt so she started a fight with them and got it again. It was just like cops complete with drunken wife beater shirt wearing dad and tazer wielding mom yelling profanity at the daughter. Makes me thankful our parents cared enough to row our behinds like a boat when we misbehaved so we wouldnt grow up to act like that.
