one of my hens is laying eggs with a dark (possibly bloody) spot on the end. Any ideas why? Thanks

From that angle it looks like a valentines gift. Pink Egg with red heart. But I would definitely call a vet for red.

Not an odd egg, just HUGE. My cuckoo marans layed this beauty yesterday. She's a fairly new layer. This is only her 4th egg. Poor girl!

Get that girl an ice pack!

I have posted my year old RSL's eggs on this thread before as she occasionally lays double yolker's. Here is her biggest yet. Laid yesterday, weighing in at 4.13 oz.

I got this one the other day, like the pigment got sprayed on late & was too wet when it came out so it all smudged. It was hard, but I could scrape it off. The egg shell was a bit soft too & it cracked so I threw it away.

Definitely pigment, not poop. I don't have anyone that lays white eggs.

That does not preclude poop on eggs....it just looks more like juicy poop than pigment.
