My 7 month old RIR egg. Looks strange. Any thoughts?

Has she been laying long? If not then it's probably just a weird pullet egg, if she has then maybe just a weird quirk. Only worry if you get a lot of them in quick succession.

They have been laying less than 1.5 months. I'll keep an eye out for more. If there are ore then I'll have to figure out which one of the 2 it is :)

We call that a slab-sided or flat sided egg. It happens when 2 eggs enter the shell gland pouch shortly after another. When this happens normal calcification is interrupted and the second egg will not be as complete as the first and may be flattened at the side where the eggs made contact, resulting in a flat or slab side. There is more info on those and other weird and wonderful egg oddities here:

Yes, its possible to hatch twins. One of my button quail laid a huge egg and I thought I would incubate it with some normal size eggs. It hatched two chicks, except one got out and the other hadn't fully absorbed the yoke into its body. I separated it and eventually after about 3 hours it did and got up and got on with life. Just wish I had a working camera to document it. It was the strangest thing I had ever seen.

Weird! I have a 7 month old Leghorn that lays "almost" round eggs. They are still oval shaped but no skinny end. Both ends are like the bigger end of an egg. I'll have to post a pic on here.
