I kind of knew what it was when I saw it. We had seen that YouTube video before our chickens started laying a few months ago. I got a huge double yolker from a Blue Copper Marans today...so almost positive the "egg in the egg" yesterday was from her too. Eeekk...poor girls having a rough go at getting started.

Weird...egg within an egg. Never seen one of those before. Who layed it?
This was answered above.

One of the eggs we received from our hen was right after I finished building their coop. I suppose it was her way of saying, "Thank you".

Hoping someone may be able to help with an odd egg.

A friend contacted me today about their 3 year old Highline hen (Hybrid brown egg layer)

They say that when she lays which is still most days, she often has a hole in the small end of the egg shell. The membrane is intact so there is not leaking of the white.

I am told it does not look like it has been pecked, and it's almost always in the same place on the egg, same size and shape.

I would post a pic, but as faulty cars rarely play up for the mechanic, the day they want a picture of it she lays a normal egg! Any help with teh above description would be appreciated.

Today I found this perfectly round golf ball sized egg buried in one of my pens. I only found it because it was partially dug up. It was about 4+ inches under the top surface of the hole. I candled it and it looks like it has been in the ground for quite awhile. I could see the yolk but it was dark so I think it is rotten inside. I'm not going to break it open. I put the feathers in the bottom of the hole where I found the egg.

We live on top of a hill. When I found the egg only the top was showing the rest was still buried, so I dug around it because I didn't know what it was at first.
