wow! those should be very healthy chickens!

i've never used the electrolite/vitamins, but i have a flag in my brain about posts i've read warning to limit them or something. you might do a search and just check and see if there's anything to be concerned about. but from the sound of things, you're probably well-read on the subject. way to go on taking good care of your babies. i think you can relax.

I was looking at some images and reading few university extension articles online. It looked like the image of the intestinal wall after 4 or 5 hours not eating. I have noticed them eating and gorging over treats (they still have an appetite). But they have been eating less frequently in this heat.

I wonder if they she their wall when they go without food or are under stress.

Anyone know?

I think I figured out why their poop is oily at certain periods. Periodically, they have cheese as a treat. Yesterday, I gave them some cheese - which they devovered. This morning their poo was oily. It wasn't yesterday or the day before when they had normal poo.

The smell is probably the garlic they have in their water. These next few days, I won't give them either. Maybe, it will clear up.

My vet will make me bring them in and pay for a visit for each one. That will be about $120 plus $30 for the samples.

mine had poops like that before they started laying,i read somewhere its the egg they are unable to lay yet coming out in a poop, maybe its something to do with that?

Well, I am convinced more then ever the weird smell is from the garlic in the water. They are still acting healthy - even more so with the garlic. When I put them in for the night, that smell was in the air. I looked and looked and could not find any droppings. Then I picked up a hen and smelt her. Its starting to come out of their pores. Hopefully, the mites, lice and worms are as repulsed by the smell as I am LOL. We usually bake with their eggs instead of eating them straight. So, I haved noticed any change in the taste of their eggs, yet.

As for the goo, it seems to have only occured that one day and this morning. The weather has changed and it has really cooled down. Their poops have firmed up quite a bit.

Thank you for your comments

P.S. I have never used the word poop so much in my life.
