Why Does my rooster jump on the hens egglaying spot and sit there for a few minutes making weird noises? Does anyone else's roosters act like this? I'm just wondering why he does this.
Thanks in advance!

He is encouraging the others to use this nest, good rooster! Mine do this also, I have one that will make a nest and call the girls to use it.
LOL, he does it because he wants chicks,,,

Instinctual flock cock behavior, showing the girls the 'safe' spot to lay.
Learned this with my first flock (adults and 4mo chicks),
first afternoon the cock got into nest and sat there for 30 minutes talking up a storm. Next day eggs in nest, cock never got in nest again.

Have seen other cock/erels sit or stand nearby new pullets laying for the first time too.
