Weird rumbling, vibrating sound at night- anyone else dealing with it?

Growing up we used to hear a sound like the one video that was loud. We were always told and believed it to be the Pratt & Whitney plant testing engines. Still hear it from time to time, but not as often. That plant isn't close to where I live - probably 30 or more miles. Most people could hear it though.

My mother can hear sounds most people can't. She starts to get ill in some stores if she stays too long. Thinks it's the security systems or something. I find I can't stay in those same stores a long time or I start to feel ill or very stressed (most of the time it's the very stressed feeling). I don't hear anything though. I often hear things other can't, but I always assumed it was higher frequencies.

It does sound mechanical, I initially thought of the fracking, because its such a hot issue in the state right now. But I can't account for the ceaselessness of the sound. When it starts it goes on for HOURS. I guess they do exploratory explosive resonance (or whatever) testing before drilling to locate deposits. It involves shooting an explodive down into the ground and looking at the resulting sonar. Sorta like on the beginning of "jurassic park" if I understand right. So that doesn't really account for the endlessness of the sound.

I contacted Joe Mullins, the man that headed up the taos hum project back in the 90's. I cant find any more information on their discoveries after 94. Maybe he knows something, or a direction to look into.

Its usually higher frequencies for me too. Are you predisposed to get panic attacks? I think it has something to do with it. There's a theory that panic attacks are caused by sensory overload, that some people are ultra sensitive to the world around them- frequencies, smells, lights, etc. Cause this freaking sound has given me the WORST panic attacks of my life.

I get physically ill when I go to a bar or other place that has very loud, thumping music. It vibrates my insides and I feel nervous and nauseous for a long while after leaving it. I also feel this way when I run my lawnmower, chainsaw, weedeater or tiller. My nerves are just about shot afterwards and everything after that is an irritant.

Yep, thats about right! AHHH! except its a sound you can't even really hear. And no one else can hear it. My husband really thought I was going insane.

I believe that stressed felling I get is sort of a panic attack. I feel the urgent need to leave a place, often get light headed or a migraine. Sometimes happens when in a crowd of people that's loud. Some sounds that most can't even hear will drive me crazy. Usually some sort of buzzing sound.

If I could hear a sound like you describe and couldn't find it - it would drive me crazy.

Yeah, that sounds like a panic attack. so unpleasant.

I know you've already ruled out the wind farms.. Around the Niagra Region here in Canada, they've built some wind farms.. And there people getting "vertigo" they say...

I don't know the lay of the land in the states well, but is it possible it's coming from our side of the river? And it's vertigo?
I heard a couple on the radio talking about it, and it sounds like the symptons your stating.. It took her husband alot longer to feel the effects as well.. And some people aren't feeling any effects..
