Right now I'm putting together a run. This way I can keep them in the run some days and give the yard a chance to recover.

Smart idea. I'm trying to figure out land/chicken/meat/egg ratio so I know how many chickens I will need to have meat and eggs while free ranging. Is there a guide to this somewhere or a better spot to post? I don't want to highjack the thread.

They already have a dust pit that they used to use but they've recently started digging up the grass and making new holes. The ground now looks like a scene from the movie "Holes". If you haven't seen it, just imagine the chickens have been digging for gold in every bit of space available.
