Hello,
For the last month, one of my Delawares always lays eggs with a cross-shaped seam on the pointy end. She is a year old and never did it before this. Any ideas? Is it an early indication of infection? She seems perfectly healthy.
Thank you for the help.

my birds tend to lay a weird egg somtimes but it never has really affected there health maybe itas just how she signs her eggs lol

I have a McMurry red star that lays an egg like that once in a while. I attribute it to the fact that the previous owner freeranged with out added feed. She's not much biger that my leghorn. The first few eggs she layed had no shell. For a week she layed these enormous eggs. I only get 4-5 eggs a week. I have no idea what causes this possibly a burp in the plumbing lol.
