This morning, I heard an unusual sound coming out of the new coop where the 8-week-olds are living. I flung open the door and spotted Gold-Laced Cochin Bantam Pauly, standing up on the lower roost. He had pulled himself up to his full height, and those odd little utterances were him, crowing for the first time!

My other rooster, an Iowa Blue, was full grown when I got him, so I didn't experience a baby roo learning to "talk." I'm sure it's just a matter of time before Billie -- a Blue Cochin Bantam in the same coop -- also finds his voice. I'm a proud mama, just wanting to brag on my kids!
