My hens just recently started laying eggs again and I noticed this really weird looking egg in the box that had this rubbery white thing attached around it. I cracked the egg open and the egg inside looked normal. Does anyone have any idea what this could be or what caused the egg to come out this way?

Hmmmm....looks like it backed up after shelling and got another round of membrane or sloughed off tissue from inside of reproductive tract.
Would be good to cut that blob in half and take another pic.
Could also just be a funky 'start up' glitch that you'll never see again.
Do you know which bird laid it?
