I recently picked up this strange looking egg from my coop. I saw all the white specs and just thought it was dirt and such so I washed the egg. The specs appeared to have disappeared after washing and I set it down to dry. When I came back to it, much I my surprise, almost all the specs were back. I am nervous about eating it as I've heard that there are bacteria that eggs can carry.

What do you guys think it is?

A normal egg with too much calcium in the hens diet. Washing with water introduces more bacteria than the hen ever will in most cases. She ate a little too much oyster shell or there was a bit too much calcium in the lay pellets, that's all.

Wish ya the best.
