Weirdest Things Your Chickens Have Done

Pics
My rooster doesn’t do this anymore, but when I first introduced him to the flock, he always did this silly little dance before he tried to mate the hens. He hardly ever got one then, because he spent so much time running in circles and flapping his wings.
Just like high school I guess! :gig

Here is my sassy Easter Eggers Kate RIP who used to love to jump into the poop bucket while I was doing chores she would randomly jump onto my lap and peck me when Iwasnt looking she would also fly up and over a 7 foot tall gate of their enclosure and went wandering the front yard she was a character

My EE named Maxi. When she first started to lay she was a crackhead. She would start scratching the floor (not the shavings, of which there was a thick layer of) and freak the other chickens out, and give my dog a panic attack. She proceeded to lay 4 eggs in 2 days. Nowadays, she tries to fly up the house wall, which gives the dog panic attacks and makes him jump on the counter because he gets scared. She makes an odd noise, going -eeehh-eeehh-eeeh- Im just girl chill.. 😐😐😐

my senior rooster Fog Horn (he’s a light brahama…. Not a leghorn) will sneak into the garage and make a nest in the wood savings bag…..then he will sit in this shavings bag for a long long time. We like to think he’s “ de-fragging” it’s hard work being a roo so I totally get it!! Everyone needs a little reset and mind break lol

I also have a daughter of his who very much prefers to lay her eggs on my kiddos lower bunk bed….. right between his pillow. It’s cute until you have city folks stop by and you end up trying to act clueless to the fact that a chickens in your house let alone on your kids bed 🤣😂😂🤣 “is that a chicken on that bed” ….. “nope, I don’t see any chickens……” as you slowly open the door and place her back outside”

Gosh how boring would our lives be if we didn’t have chickens! Love my birds!

My girls Basil and Lavender yell at me and randomly when they're doing chicken things

Lavender has also taken to singing the egg song whenever someone goes into the nest box. No, she's not laying yet, but I expect she will be any day now with how she's acting

My 7 birds have a nice 12x12 run to hang out in. Where do they choose to hang out? Inside a cat crate inside of a dog crate (from when they were chicks and I was moving them between the brooder and outside and integrating them).....chicken logic
