That was one of the reasons I picked a Bare Eyed Cockatoo... you can leave them home while you work, no problems. But still smart and friendly.
She is a gorgeous lady!
Cockatoos stole my heart a long time ago. In Pigeon Forge TN there's a place called Parrot Mountain. You can interact with all kinds of parrots. It was the cockatoos that were my favorite. One in particular, a Moluccan named Peaches, totally won me over. She was super sweet and happy to ride around on my shoulder. The staff there told me that if she liked you, she would 'dance' on your shoulder. Sure enough, she started dancing for me.
But, the big guys aren't for everyone; they are so intelligent and so social, you basically have to be home with one all the time or able to take them everywhere with you to make it work. So I knew I'd want a smaller one. I ended up settling on the Galahs.
For now though I just content myself with the tiniest of the 'toos - my little 'tiels.
It is very hard to keep Moluccans happy.
