Morning Ponders! :frow
Well we're now under a blizzard watch with warnings we'll most likely lose power because of the combination of heavy snow/high winds so DH is heading for the station to fill up the gas cans. Not supposed to start until tomorrow night so we have plenty of advanced prep time and we know how "spring" goes up here so we hadn't done to much switching over from winter yet anyway. Well, except the DH had already renewed his habit of scattering "stuff" (aka tools and equipment) that he has to round up so he's not hitting it with the snow removal gear. If the temp trend their predicting is accurate, this latest stuff is not going to be in a hurry to melt. Oh well, at least it should keep those "bug" carriers to our south from doing their spring migration north any time soon. :D

There are signs we may be getting to come out of quarantine sooner rather than later. The northstate Cali counties have experienced very little covid activity. Not sure they'll go so far as to open schools, but "lockdown" may come to an end by the end of the month, and businesses may reopen again.
They're even starting to postulate that the virus may have come through already (late Jan/Feb) when everyone was so stinking sick and they just marked it up to a particularly virulent H1N1. (Not saying I agree, just thinking... hmmm, we were all really sick then... What if???)
We haven't peaked yet so the numbers are still climbing here. Nothing like you faced and hopefully shouldn't be because we just don't have your population and we had enough warning from the coasts to get ahead of things before it worked it's way to the midwest and went into lockdown early. No confirmed cases in our county yet but now in every one around us but still super low numbers up here. Southern half of the state not so fortunate.

Doesn't seem to have peaked here yet; deaths just doubled yesterday in this county. Of course that didn't take much; there'd only been 4 deaths to start with...2 in the same assisted living facility about 6 miles from here.

You ever tried the upside down tomato plants?
Tried it once. It didn’t go well. Turns out you actually have to remember to water the darn things....

It would be interesting if everyone who was sick during that time could be tested for antibodies. DH was also quite ill in February. Worst cough he’s ever had, fatigue, short of breath. Took him over a month to even start feeling like himself again.

Morning Pondites I had a horrible bought late last October they called in Pneumonia
took me down hard maybe it wasn't ... Seattle has the concentration and idiots
that will not stay home ... We go seldom but will make 4 stops one trip and yes distance from others always

That would be nice!!

I had planned a first ever actual spend money on a trip to take, just myself and kid 2... plan to cancel it all in Monday...

I had been putting off canceling.... but it looks like travel this summer just isn't going to happen

So, DIL is in labor. Her water broke at 7:30 this morning. On Wed. at her OB appt, the Dr. cleared DS to be with her for labor, delivery and the 4 hours afterward, even though he has a cold. Cold is almost gone. Just a slight runny nose and some sneezing. Last night at 5:00, the hospital changed their policy to that anyone with any kind of symptoms will not be allowed in the OB. They were not aware of this policy until they got to the hospital this morning, were met at the door and DS was sent home. Fortunately, she was able have her mom come be with her. So my son is standing on a step-stool outside the hospital watching his wife in pain and feeling helpless because he can't go to her. It sucks. I feel bad for him and a little sorry for myself as we can't go meet our new grandson until who-knows-when.

Well, poo! :(
The small city to the north where I love to go thrift shopping etc. is mostly closed down of course but the wonderful natural foods grocer and a real TSC which is still allowed to operate so I thought I would sneak in to restock on Monday. Now that's not going to happen any time soon for 2 reasons. First the blizzard is now supposed to be the worst on Monday so travel wouldn't be too intelligent and second, it was on the news this morning that a worker at the only McDonalds (open for the drive up) had tested positive earlier in the week and they shut it down over night last night to sterilize the place. Doesn't mean much to us, we rarely do fast food but it does mean this kid was probably spreading the bug for who knows how long to a wide diversity of folks making it less than wise to shop anywhere in town .
