just hanging out waiting for the storm to hit. Generator's ready to go, everything tied down, chooks all tucked in, extra pot of coffee made. We're ready.
My remaining hens seem to be good, so far. I want to get more young ones so I would have layers next spring, but since I don't know what I am (or not) dealing with, I'm afraid to right now, but if I wait til later I'm running into them not being old enough when our lovely winter arrives.

Anyway, how's this for being a good neighbor?

This is the 'don't give a darn kid' as far as scholastics, but he sure is a neat person. We like him a lot.

academics aren't for everyone--our son just went through high school, but is the hardest worker I know and the most handy to have on the job. Works as landscaper and happy as a clam

He is a special gift. Daughter and SIL had two kids and that was their family - then they went away for their anniversary. Coincidentally my SIL's father died unexpectedly while they were away. His arrival helped fill that void.
