Good morning, Pond. @dan26552 I'd try him for broods out of two different hens and then evaluate his chicks.

That's kinda what I was thinking. I have two hens, maybe switch between the two roosters

Hey Pond been off awhile from lily pads.
I do have a new wish for all to have a wonderful end to the 2023.
I get 2 splash Marans cockerel 9 month old on Saturday.
They have grown up together also, Post photos maybe Saturday?

Good Afternoon, Pond!

It’s bright and a balmy 41 here. We have grandson over for a sleepover. He is currently out helping Grandpa build a deer stand.

Earlier today,I told DH, “The sun is so bright!” He said, That’s because we haven’t seen it for a while. You've forgotten what it looks like.” I am thankful that we have it today.

Was considering breeding but I've been going back and forth on his tail myself lol. Might throw him with a hen and see what happens, worst comes to worst I put a bunch of chicken in the freezer lol. I got him cause he had better type than this fella. Who also happens to be a hen bully it seems. His tails too low and I don't particularly like how his wings are held but he's not terrrrrible. Lol. I have a moderately decent hen, she'd probably fix those in one or two generations

I dunno... depending on how bad of a hen bully he is... I cull first for personality.

Except for the potential personality issue... decent choices...

Nice. Did you get to see the color of eggs from the flock?

My hens and hers are different I only have a very marans left.
I will be hatching the eggs come spring to replace birds I lost this year.
