Hey Ponders!


Been busy I lost 17 chickens to a fur bearer or neighbors dog yesterday, I spent the day fortifying the coop and run. Setting traps and thinking evil thoughts of revenge. It only ate part of one the rest were just killed for fun. It tunneled in....

I was out this morning to welcome it back, but nothing showed. I had such a good surprise planned for it too.

I have posted this video a couple places but I think seeing it is important to all of us as a reminder of what they do to try to get to our birds. I will be fortifying all my runs and coops after watching this. My Cousin took it, she lives 15 miles from me. She lost all her birds a week later to this devil..

@LittleLakePhil this might be particularly interesting to you as I assume you have these there too..

Heck that's not even a big one.... is it illegal to kill it even when its endangering your livestock? When i trapped mine it was during season

I have a high nickel 400 block and nodular crank that would make a great start. I need to clean out a lot of parts and could put together a package for you if you'd want to come downstate.

There is a trapping season in the NE corner of the state. But I think the limit is 3 a year.

You can kill if they are doing damage, but some wardens would say jumping around the outside of a coop is not damage,,SSS is always best I think.

So, since I am impatient, I candled the pea eggs last night even though that's super early. But, I saw life in six! Might check again tonight to see if I can see any more little embryos yet.

FLEAS ! Anyone else having flea problems ? I am facing a flea invasion like never before. My truck even has fleas - seriously, How the hel l they got in there is beyond me, but I had to flea spray my truck. Our golden has fleas, the beagles have fleas, Scaredy Cat has fleas (dusting her was a treat), and I am guessing the entire yard has fleas.

This is true.... where I live there are tons of lakes..... a lot of them were way down for the last couple of years.... they are up now.
...
So JD disappeared again today.... I'm gonna watch her tomorrow and figure out where she's going.

we got matching shirts for fathers day I'm ruined and controlled and he also wet me down with pee.

Finally got a chance to say hi and everyone is going to bed!

Worked in the garden for 2 hours, worked on charts for 7 hours and acccidentally smoked a turkey for 6 hours (About a half hour too long) because I was stuck in a complicated chart.

Then, one of our trees just decided to shed a branch:

Good thing DH parked my dad's truck on the other side of the driveway! But now we have to cut it up.

Don't think they will, the cucumbers seem to be loving it and they are pretty much in a pool. It is splitting the apples though.
