Welcome to my pond - Swim, wade, or sit on the bank

Never did get a garden in this year. Yours looks great Dan! I'm hoping to get a fall garden going this year but... Never know.
Howdy pertnear!
Just got mine in last week. Too much danger of frost before then. Still risky, but I'm already cutting it close to not getting any produce before freeze.

Still haven't planted corn... Might not. But taters, beans, tomatoes, etc are all in.

That's cannibalism (think about it...) :p
ewwwwww

Morning Pondies.... We have a new dog. My son has been wanting a new dog since our Rosie passed.

Of course I was for it but was worried about grandma in a physical sense and also if she would be accepting... He talked to grandma and it was game on.

His criteria was under thirty pounds family dog.... Which meant Chihuahua crosses... We drove all the way to Oceanside shelter to see a ChiPom.... Chihuahua Pomeranian.... Oh she was cute and Busy and a BARKER.... Thankfully another family was coming back to adopt her. (most our shelthers are no kill)

After that trek I told Dean he had free rein to pick out a dog. So he went off to Escondido yesterday... We had seen a few with great descriptions on the website... I fell in love with a Swissie cross.... So pretty and sweet faced. A bit too big at 50 pounds. Sigh.

Its his dog so I figured what ever but I set my foot down on pitbulls. I know they can and are wonderful dogs in the right hands but just a casual bounce off one of them could cause grandma a tumble.

He came back with Swissie girl named Brandy.... Oh my goodness is she sweet and quiet and very very shy. I can deal with shy my last dog was a shy girl. Shes not quite as big as the website too. She looks an awfull lot like a English Shepherd too.

Shes six years old almost seven. Her first owners had her with goats and other livestock. But someone introduced a German Shepherd in the family and it attacked her and shredded her up.... They couldnt afford vet bills so they sent her to the humane society.... They patched her up and treated her and rehabbed her... But the incedent left her with PTSD... she cant be around any dogs bigger than her.

She was then adopted out to a family with childrean where she lived for about six months. But when the baby started being a toddler she got fearful again.... She was turned back into the shelter... All of it ... so sad...

I hope shes found the perfect home. We are all fairly quiet and undemanding except for the basics.... Dean wants to take her hiking....

For now We are just letting her be... Investigate the yard.... House.... learn the routines... We made a comfortable nest for her in a quite part of the dining room and she spent the night there... Dean and I spend most our time in that room.

I will post pictures as soon as we take some.

sounds like you may have found the perfect one, congratulations!

So, we think the Princess got food poisoning from a McDonald's fish sandwich on Sat. Since Sun. she's been better - reduced appetite and bowel problems, but no vomiting. Last night apparently things escalated and while she was on the 'throne', she fainted. Holy crap ! She did not hurt herself (only her dignity) and we have an appointment with our doctor this afternoon. I believe she was dehydrated so I went out and got some Gator-ade, and right now she feels okay - even ate some toast. I hate having to be the grown up.
:hugs

I hereby nominate Dan as Pond Skimmer Extraordinaire. Can I get a 2nd?
LOL!!!

:love:love I gotta look at them on the big screen!!
so nasty :sick
thanks and yes, the town vet put all the cats down afterwards there was over 100

@DwayneNLiz looked at those pics again. Too bad you didn't get too many cute ones. :D The little girl is darling though. ;)

How many hatched?
nope, no cuties for sure, 8 of 11 that made it to lock down

But don't feel bad, this one isn't very cute either. :lau

awwww :love i want it!!! :love

The broodies are starting to hatch here. I had one hen on a nest that I tried to move into the Eglu last night and she was fighting me, so her and her one hatched chick got moved in. The other eggs that weren't pipped or hatching I was planning to take and finish in the incubator. She also had one egg that was pipped so I slid that under another group of broodies because I could hear a chick peeping under them so they're in the middle of a hatch too. There are three of them on that nest! They're jammed in and it looks ridiculous, but those chicks are going to have three moms, so they'll be well protected.

And just as I was getting ready to gather up the leftover eggs from the first broody's nest, an Ac hen hopped in immediately and bit the heck out of me. Don't know if she was sharing the nest with the other broody or if she decided to take that nest instead of squeezing back in with the other three hens, but it worked for me so I let her have it.
good luck! cant wait for pictures!!

shes beautiful!!!

Well, of course to protect the innocent. Princess has either food poisoning or a bacterial infection (not sure what the difference is). He prescribed Cipro, something to calm her bowels and something for her stomach. Waiting for the drug store to call and say 'come and get them'.
glad she went to hear she went :hugs hope it clears up quickly :fl

Hey! I haven't done that this month... yet...

Flock... I think you just jinxed me... :tongue

Oh, and speaking of... going to visit Lucy tomorrow... she unfortunately lost her PeePaw(grandpa) a few days ago... :(

Funny thing about that is, I actually do clean pools. :gig
Love to. It'll probably be this afternoon before I can check em out. Grocery day is a several hours event.
Okey dokey! I'll post them and tag you.
Dan, you sure have many different varieties in your garden. I'm impressed.
I try to get a good variety, it accomplishes two things, I can see which ones do better here and can mainly focus on those and two, it helps keep the bugs away, all the different scents confuse them so they're less of a problem.

I do indeed. If you get the more cold hardy ones they'll do well. Lots of people also have them as ornamentals but mine are edibles.
