Welcome to my pond - Swim, wade, or sit on the bank

I quit eating Bass that come from non-moving water, like a pond....the flesh is mushy. River-caught Bass is a different story.
Maybe cooler water?
I just don't ever even fish for Bass..... The great lakes area is a pretty deverse place for fish.... So I just Target better fish.... I'm stricky fishing walleye at the moment because I have plenty of fish in the freezer. If I needed fish I would fish for Bluegills right now....

Good news on a Thursday morning? (Okay, here it's morning, so work with me.)
1. Thankful, yet again, that we made all the rooster coops west facing (not planned) - so they are 5-5:30 crowers instead of...
2. Our seriously brutal summer (temps in the hundred teens frequently) seems to be ebbing a bit now - got down to a balmy 68 degrees last night. Gonna have to break out the long johns.
3. A lady wants to buy 18 "barnyard mix" eggs from me...definitely better price than selling them for eating!

Back before I retired and I had time for fishing, I would only fish for bass in the early cold waters. They get too muddy tasting for me once the water warms up.

This is good sunfish, fishing time. As dog days approach the northern are harder to catch here and a tad mushy too. But they will be good in mid Sept again.

Bonfires on ice isn't as bad as the nut jobs that ice skate and use a chainsaw for propulsion.
Yeah what's wrong with a bonfire on ice.
Seems like the best place to have one.... Definitely no Forest fire danger.
And remember hear rises..... Not like it's gonna burn down through the ice.... If that happened the ice would be to thin to walk on....

Close to DC since my dad taught at Georgetown. We lived in Chevy Chase section 4. What a crazy designation, huh? Never looked up why.

I remember, I think it was in 5th grade, the teacher asked us what state we lived in.... I didn't know. I knew my street address, and I had a great sense of direction, and walked home every day (took about 30 minutes), so in the classroom I pointed what direction my house was in, and said that way.

She was pretty unimpressed.
Good thing she didn't ask you where the light switch was.....:lau

Have to tell hubby about that...He's always tinkering and finding "other" ways to make things work!:)
Me too..... Growing up I always admired the "tinkerer"..... The fix anything guy.....I just realized that's what I've become..... The neighborhood tinkerer.... People aren't just asking me to look at their cars..... They are asking me to look at everything..... Guess I'll put up a "ob/gyn" shingle up next...:lau

Yeah just call me Dr Phil.....

:lau yeah, a super built up area, that's for sure!

It was great at Halloween. There was one consulate that was close enough to walk to (no idea what country) and most kids wouldn't trick or treat there. My older sister and I would time our arrival to when the guard would consider the night "over". It was great, he would dump EVERYTHING he had left into our bags. Good stuff too.

Halloween there was serious stuff
Yeah growing up in Detroit Metro area Halloween rocked.... I've only had a few truck or treaters in the past 35 years here....I give out dollar bills....a can of Coke.... And a big Hersey bar every year.....I end up eating then mussel most years.... After I go to the neighbors house and leave a few for her grandkids.
