Welcome to my pond - Swim, wade, or sit on the bank

I wish you all the best with your plans to move but ya do realise that you'll have to start talking in a funny accent, don't ya? :D

As far as you're concerned, I already do

My accent didn't change one bit while I was in Blighty--confirmed by my daughters each Friday when I video-called home and by a friend that I saw at the beginning and end of the trip, with no in between.

Dang... Looks like I'll need to get one of the free air masks that are being given out at various places around town. While I don't have breathing difficulties normally, and, indeed, my main problem is less lung-based and more nausea, this smoke sucks (doesn't help that it's not only unseasonably warm, but unclimatically warm--it was 90+ Saturday! 80+ today! Normally, in the height of summer (which, temp-wise, is normally the next 4-6 weeks anyway), we might get above 70... (Made the summer we lived in Redding quite interesting...) No AC, and I can't exactly open up all the north-facing windows...

Anyway, enough fire-related stuff, and more things-of-interest...

Some of you may remember that we were talking of relocating here in the next few years. Well, this past week, Tom (hubby) and Tim (a friend of ours who may relocate with us) flew to Nashville on a scouting trip. They looked looked all around in a 50-mile radius (I'd thought the plan was just to look around Sumner county, which is the exact opposite side of Nashville from Rav (and a friend of mine from h2g2, for that matter), so, alas, no meeting-in-proxy (I learned of the radius the night before the 9am flight back...) So the Paper Clan may be in Tennessee before 2020 (a date that keeps coming up for Tom, both as the actual year, and in the form of "2-3 years") We had a realtor over the day before I took Tom and Tim up to the airport, and know what we need to do to make the house more desirable--mostly tidying, changing window trim--curb appeal stuff...

...And getting rid of the coop.

Now, I wasn't planning on bringing my birds across several state lines. It's not worth the hassle for mutts and hatchery birds. So rehoming was going to need to happen anyway. And there has been an increase in predator activity, possibly due to territory bumping, so I have less birds to rehome than I did before I went to the UK (though not anything near bobbi's attrition rate:hugs) It's just having someone tell me that the birds need to go... But I'll finally be able to have calls after the move and getting set up, so totally worth it! May need to make tons of blackberry jam and fudge for trading, but stillView attachment 1129186

Get you the dang mask if'n it's free especially!!

Yeah, I'm still a bit miffed he drove right past my place (distance is relative in TN, lol)... but Shade told me to tell ya he has a realtor contact here if you want the info... probably best to message him through FB about it though... for some reason relay messages between us tend to get messed up/forgotten, etc...

Sorry for the losses, but you can have your pick when you move here... Calls and chickens... bet K will be willing to hook you up with Marans even... ;)

Stay safe... oh, and as for the heat, get used to it... used to be more temperate here, but last few summers have been hot and very humid... :/

Hey, hey, HEY, now!!! :plbb

Naturally, y'all do :D Accents don't change overnight - besides, I'm sure ya didn't understand half of what the Brits were saying :lau I was watching a UK show with DW yesterday and someone from Liverpool was being interviewed - should have seen the look on DW's face - priceless  (and I won't tell ya what she said - not BYC material)

I do know T&T met with a realtor while there, and looked at a couple properties with her, but I can certainly start up a group chat between them and Shade over on FB:thumbsup

The heat would be much more bearable if I could just open a bloody window once in a while! A least there, it wouldn't be a matter of going inside for fresh air...

I only had trouble understanding what a person as saying twice while in the UK--Once in the McDonald's in Leed's rail station (the only place in the station with wifi, and I needed to let Tom know that I wasn't going to be able to do the video call until an hour or so later than we'd arranged)--a northern girl, and I was tired (10-12 miles walking that day, with someone who has completed the Yorkshire 3 Peak Challenge)--didn't need translation, but it took a second for my brain to catch up to each sentence. The second time was due to noise levels, not accent, though the girl in the pub assumed 'twas accent woes, 'cause she called her manager over

Nah, just message him and ask him... he HATES group chats, lol...

Understandable, been around some awful fires myself... if possible though, I do highly suggest any place you consider to have central air... even if it's just to escape the humidity! :lau
