I think theres something to be said for environmental factors too. It might be an essential survival instinct for the body to grow more hair in colder climates & less in hotter ones. (I cant believe I brought up body hair again.)

My eldest FLOSSES HIS TEETH WITH HIS HEAD HAIR! !! I keep telling him he will have to marry a skank if he keeps up this many nasty habits. Most women want a man who can at least pretend to be respectable for one full hour. He has finally learned to not pop gristle with his teeth in front of guests. He lives his bones.

LOL... I read the thread and I am in total agreement. Genetics is crazy complicated... I used to be able to do high end math but Genetics Goes way beyond my skill set. Best I can do is understand Homozygus and Hetrozygus... and it takes two sets of blue eyed genes to make a blue eyed child.... I was that way for horse Genetics too.

Its amazing that out of the original black and tan horse you can get sooo many different varieties....

Then add in the variations for size skin color natural gait type of feather or hair.....

I once asked a breeder how they kept track of the genetics on their chickens... Pretty much got a pat on the head and told they didnt have time to do the genetics.......
