Welcome to my pond - Swim, wade, or sit on the bank

Wait what is this copper stuff? Sorry, haven't really been paying attention but now I see mention of ducks and I am thinking of getting them so I am curious, is it required?

copper sulfate.. look it up. I know it from dealing with horse water troughs... an Algaecide... but it has other properties in the correct dosages.

In liquid form Coppertox its used in horses feet to help eliminate Thrush. Which is a mixture of bacterial and fungal infection...

it seems there are a lot of cross over medicines between horses and Chickens...

Missed this, sorry... isn't it the back one you want to keep?

Time to start testing that velcro......

Purely on looks alone, I prefer the one in the background - he has orange hackle feathers, but first one to crow wins, I guess

He's really grown in the past week, so i guess he was a slightly later developer than his brother. If it suggests he's going to get his leg over the girls before his brother, then he'll be the keeper. I've just started to leave the pop door of the grow-out pen open all day, so they can all become more familiar with each other. Hopefully I will be putting them in the main coop by late next week so that will reduce early morning noise.

But yes, gonna have to get some velcro ASAP. I still have reservations about using collars, but its gotta be less hassle than catching him each night and putting him in a crate in the annex. I'll give it a try and see how things go.

Just cuz he crows doesn't mean the quiet one won't sneak in and do the deed... ;)

Yeah, I agree on the collars, but you gotta do what you gotta do... just make sure you don't get rid of your backup boy before you master the collar, just in case...

Quite right - gotta watch out for those quiet ones!

Sound advice. Better to try it out on one, before getting rid of the other. I can't afford not to have a little fella around for a few months, at least.
