Welcome to my pond - Swim, wade, or sit on the bank

All is well here, thanks. We've had some rain which hopefully puts an end to the drought emergency. And in your neck of the woods?

Things are well. Birds are all alive or scheduled to die :D
That's good. Your meaties, being in the latter category, I assume? Have you managed to keep any of them to a size that will dodge the axe and become breeding stock? I seem to recall that Oz had managed that.

Actually meaties are in the former. Trying to make breeding stock out of them. The only one of them that I lost was actually the smallest one and that was a couple days ago.

Well, hope that plan works out for you :fl

I have a batch of Freedom Rangers going (genuine, not hatchery knockoff) and they are awesome. They do not realize they are meaties, they roost and everything at six weeks and 4 lb. Not half as messy as Jumbo Cornish Cross, either.
Yea that's about the only thing I don't much care for with the CX is that they sleep in the dirt or whatever is on the coop floor.

Can't stand the broiler types - they just look so darn ugly, but strangely very friendly birds (guess you gotta be when you are too fat to run away from anything :D)
