Welcome to my pond - Swim, wade, or sit on the bank

Animals and children can result in a serious lack of cents. I can still remember back to the poverty days. :old
And the DD wonders why we are constantly asking her about getting a job... well, October is just around the corner and the "No gas $" plan is about to go into effect...

Remember back??? You mean I'm supposed to be on poverty, wish someone had told me sooner..:lau

Are you serious ? :lau
Momentary lapse in what little common sense I have??

Seriously - I was making $4,800 a year. Apartment was $85/month utilities not included. When bills were paid and food purchased we MIGHT have enough money for a six pack of beer and a trip to the drive in movie. We got 'stuff' when we had the money to pay for it. Not quite my kids' and grandkids' life styles. SMDH !

While I'm ranting, :hmm. All the above being said, I have always been a saver/investor, had worked since I was 12, and had enough saved for a sizeable downpayment on a $21,500 home on 11.25 acres - paid off within 7 years due to our frugality. I understand that times and prices were different 'back then', but quite evidently so was my income. I figure that the majority of folks have never had to wear mended clothes, and work at making sure there was enough to eat.

Of course hubs income is more than that, but just barely enough to cover the necessities. If we have extra it's a couple of $7 dollar pizzas and a 12 OK of cokes and a red box movie...And that's pushing it...lol

It's rare we have to wear mended clothes, but we don't have closets full. If all of their clothes are dirty it'll make up one load of wash each, and it's just a regular old washer..Lol
They do have Xboxs and tvs but most were bought as hand-me-downs from friends upgrading...And we make it work!
