I was a manufacturing engineer... Solving issues with Production as well as Known issues with returns. I designed Plastic and Sheetmetal parts as well as tooling for assembly and streamlining the manufacturing process.

Basically I would go out on the manufacturing floor and ask some questions of the Worker Bees to see how I could make their job easier. even a second saved in the long term cuts down on errors.

I also Worked with "Tribal Knowledge" in order to convert it to real time work instructions. Using best practices. This allowed for certifiaction to ISO 9001 standards. ISO 9001 is the standard most international companies adhere to for international trade. Fancy term for keeping track of revision levels failures and remediation.

Tribal knowledge is valuable to a manufacturing company. Experienced individuals teach the rest the best way to do a job. By converting that to Images and text Now you can impart that information more quickly and accurately.

For what its worth Qualcomm is a manfuacurer of Cell phones and Technology to support cell phones. Their big money maker though is the Satelite communications units that you see on Semi Trucks. Kind of a salad bowl arrangement on their roof.

Jacobs is one of the engineers that worked for Raytheon company and developed a secure incryption algorithym called CDMA... Used by the military and the CIA... When he left Raytheon he came away with the Patent for the system.

I also worked for another company called PCSI ... Pacific Communications Sciences Incorporated. The founder of that company was a co Worker at Raytheon that developed CDPD Celular Digital Packet Delivery.... Used in both Cellphone techonolgy as well as Paging technology piggy backed on Cell phone signal... Why text cost so much less than voice....

His name was John Lyons. Company got bought by Cirrus Logic and parted out... Revolving door for me.
