Welcome to my pond - Swim, wade, or sit on the bank

we are waiting for rain to come tonight... about half inch all total...

So if one foot of snow equals approximately one inch of rain... .5 inches of snow would be how many fractions of an inch of water?:
Enough that it took darn near two hours to drag my deer 100 yards up the hill; footing sucked!

Good morning Pond!
@kwhites634 - congratulations on the hunt!

Pouring rain off and on here...
Sophomores and choir performances at retirement homes today - should be good.
Thank ya, Ma'am. That's the way to hunt! Heck with sitting out in the freezing cold.

300+ posts behind.... but :frow Tday was good small but good. No left overs...

:frow Good to see you Deb! :hugs
Glad the day was good for ya! :love
I should have been watchig out the window myself; I wouldn't be nearly as tired.
Dropped a small doe this morning that we discovered had been shot earlier & was infected, so we discarded her. Went the rest of the day w/o seeing anything else 'til shortly before dark. Son texts me, "Big buck below". I'm looking all over & don't see a thing, then I spot movement; the rack. Almost head shot him when he gave me the chance, but I didn't want to mess up the rack for a european mount. He gave me a shot in front of the right shoulder, so I took it. He jumped up & took off top speed. Ran right past Keith (DS) so fast he couldn't get him in the scope. Light was fading, but we managed to find small blood spots every 4-5 feet, then there got to be more, 'til there got to be a LOT more, & we found him piled up under a bush. 2-3 year old, maybe 200# live weight, 8 pt. Then we had to drag him, guts & all, back onto my place & up the hill far enough to reach him with a cable/rope combination hooked to Keith's trailer ball. I have three 4WD vehicles here & couldn't risk getting any of them hung up halfway up a muddy hill. Good thing Keith's here for the season; I may have wound up in a heap if I'd tried to get it done alone. On 2nd thought, I would't even have shot a deer that close to dark if I didn't have help.
:celebrate :highfive:
Forecast says 20% chance of precip.... .5 inches of snow.

Odd that.

Since the snow was up to my ankles...

And it is a blizzard out there.... currently blizzarding right along.
Its raining and cold here.. :(

Good morning Pond Peeps :frow

Windy as all getout down here...wind advisory 'til 4PM. Sure glad I'm in a heated blind. I used to torture myself sitting out in it; no more, if I never see another deer.
Good luck. Son blew an easy shot just before dark yesterday; pretty much upset him; he's experienced & a good shot. Going to check out the scope, in case it got bumped out of alignment somehow.
I've see tons of deer in a heated blind.
I'm sure I see more that way than I would see if I was shivering and restless on a cold tree stand.
Last week when I was sitting in that tree in single digits I didn't see anything on
I think cuz it's hard to sit still if your freezing.
I've been a close quarter Hunter most of my life....I have an 30-06 that's great for reaching out a distance.... But would rather hunt open sight at 25 yards...... That way I don't need to have multiple stands...... I'll stay with this stand for crossbow too.....I can hunt till New Year's. But once I think the deer need to leave I'll quit..... Maybe head down to the deer yards before they start dropping their antlers
