Good morning, Pond.

Well... you folks that far south... probably would all die with 6 inches.

I was in Atlanta in a snow storm -

Can you tell who laid it?

I treated mine for lice... cleaned the coops..... etc.

They still haven't started up yet.... I think they are just too old. It is cold and nasty and dark....

The pullets that I hatched this year are still too young.....

nope, not a clue except I am assuming it isn't anybody that still haven't gotten their tail feathers back yet or the one poor girl that keeps passing lash eggs. (Still active and otherwise healthy and happy BTW, really expected her to show signs of deterioration by now).
I've been constantly checking them for signs of any "critters" and even did a "just in case" worming last month.
Besides the molt, their diet hasn't been great. They've been too busy raiding the herb garden for all the yummy kale growing in there and of course the dirt has been flying in there rototilling my beds for me as they hunt out all those fat wiggly things and pretty much stopped eating their expensive top grade feed. They've finally pretty much cleaned out all the veggie and flower beds and are starting to eat their feed again. They all look clear eyed and shiny feathered (the ones they have, I keep cleaning them out so I can keep track of what's going on but the roost bar still looks like they're having pillow fights before bed).
I also have their light timer set to short hours mode (not egg laying mode) because of the molt but have been slowly bringing it back up to 11 -12 hours on maintenance mode which is where I usually leave it for the winter just so they are more active and not sleeping 18 hours a day or more during our dark dreary months.

Morning Ponders!
This end of the pond is getting a little "thick". Our big winter thing was a dud, at least for us. Just enough to make things look white, there was a little more to our east I guess. Supposed to snow off and on the rest of the week so we should have a decent cover by the weekend since the nighttime temps are supposed to drop into the low teens. Pretty much normal for us to have snow for Halloween. Sadly no town here still allows nighttime trick or treating anyway so it really doesn't matter.

My RR pullet has joined the Big Girl League of Hens. Now I know for sure the dark brown egg is the Marans Mix. Both of their eggs are so tiny, just a little bigger than a quail egg.

I'm hoping my other two pullets (EE & Cochin) lay soon. Once they lay I can worry less & relax a little.

Evening everyone!
All quiet on this end of the pond. Snow is starting to fall and it's actually really pretty. I think the powers that be may have slipped off their tracks however. We're supposed to get maybe 2" over night and they issued a winter weather advisory!!! Good grief! What panic warning are they going to issue when it actually snows? WARNING up to 6" of snow expected, WE'RE ALL GOIN' TO DIE!

Yup we were supposed to get 4"..... Just got 1

I see I left my truck window down....

Ice fishing is just around the corner....

Forgot to mention that when I went out tuck the girls in for the night, I actually found an egg in the nestboxes!!! First one since the big storm at the end of July scared them eggless. At least somebody's molt must have finally come to an end.

Yes sir we got 3 inchs the winter before last And it Stuck for 5 days!!! Everything shut down. I think even McDs shut down for the first half day. Was the first time i ever had to drive on frozen roads. Still here and my truck is still here but thats not something i want to even Think about doing regularly. That is the Only winter ever on record that it ever snowed Twice in one winter down here. Must confess im kinda glad the 110* days are over with for a couple months.

youve learned how from jump though! I am accustom to seeing oil slicks glowing on the road in the heat looking like mirages. Long Flat Hot highways. Wasnt long after the dh fractured the C7 in his neck and he Had to have that prescription. I was about 7 months pregnant.

They trucked in salt from Everywhere. We have Zero equipment for that crap is the main reason life goes to a standstill. Other than-- pure amazment. I have pics of the teen and german shepard each having a blast though. My satsuma tree was fruiting and died . We couldnt even fathom covering it, him in a neck brace, me 7 months preg w a pregnancy we waited to fail everyday.

Chicki we also arent allowed to trick or treat after dark And they stop the age at 13 And in some places theyve moved to either trick or treating the wkend before or the wkend after the holiday if its in the middle of the week like this year. Its all retarded but What good does not allowing the older kids to go out do? It just makes em get in more trouble!
