Welcome to my pond - Swim, wade, or sit on the bank

we had to go into town again yesterday (well, he did and I didn't want him going alone so I went along) as long as we were in the "big town" I decided I might as well make a stop at the large Walmart and grab a few things. I got busted by the floor arrows police!!! I never even saw the things until this burly looking female Walmart worker at the other end of the frozen food aisle stopped her stocking and barked at me "You're going the wrong way, pay attention to the arrows!" I thought she was going to write me a ticket!?!?! :lau

Consider that a warning. One more egregious violation like that & you’ll be headed to the slammer missy! :old

Well.... funny from kid 3 today....

Spouse had complained that the muffler that the kid had bought and installed on his 4-wheeler couldn't be a proper muffler, because wow....loud. Kid had installed the new muffler because the old one has rusted right off... kid had to weld the new one on... a bit of new pipe... etc.

Anyway, so kid 3 comes in and says "well, I now know that you were wrong, that muffler DOES make my rig quieter" and we (spouse and I, both with our feet up sipping coffee) just looked at him and said oh?

So kid 3 continues and says "so, I was coming back from the church with the load, and gunned it, and all of a sudden, the muffler popped right off, and WOW, so much louder after the muffler popped off!"

We both looked at him, and said "uh humm, what else happened?" (We had sent all 5 kids next door to pick up construction debris and bring it all home. They were to use the 4-wheeler and a tiny trailer)

So kid 3 says "Well, I had everyone riding on the load" Spouse interrupted and said "Everyone? All of that roofing and lumber? All 4 of your brothers? All on one load?"

Kid says, "well, kid 4 wasn't riding, but everybody else. And there was no reason to take more than 1 trip. But that roofing was long, so I needed then all to sit on the front of the load so the 4-wheeler could actually get some traction. And the path was too narrow to take the load, and we didn't want to take it on the driveway loop, way too long, so we took it cross country. And at first, going over that lawn, in second gear, it completely stopped moving forward. So I shifted down into first, and the 4-wheeler lifted all of the way up, I had to lean far forward, so it wouldn't tip, and then it actually started to move forward again! So once it started moving again, then no problem getting the load the rest of the way to the house."

Spouse and I both nodded, said it sounded good.

I don't think I said here...

Kid 3 remember works all day Friday and Saturday.

So, Friday he walks in after work, all covered in shop grease and grass clippings. Black something splashed on his face, and... a brand new professional haircut.

So I said, "man... nice haircut. I am proud of you setting that all up yourself... how did that work? Did you call ahead?"

He told me he was able to setup an appointment all online, worked easy.

So then I asked... after a deep breath to keep my voice properly emotionless... "did you go get your haircut....looking like that?"

He looked at me puzzled "huh?"

I said, "well, covered in grass and grease and such "

He then said "No! No! I made the appointment for first thing this morning, went to work after"

Whew

My sister passed away on Friday. Glad she's happy now. That was tough for her. I had heard and read that this would be an easy one. Hard on us now.
I’m so sorry!!! :hugs It’s never easy to lose someone one you love. I lost my sister 10yrs ago this past April. Tragic! It will be weird the things that will hit you & the process of how you’ll grieve. I found I was incapable of drinking my coffee in the morning. Weird right. I think the idiot who advised going about your normal routine never experienced a real loss. My advice is to find a new way of going about your normal routine. Also, let the stages of grief come & then let them go. Acknowledge them for what they are & let them run their course. People around you are gonna be angry & ignorant & insensitive, try to not let it it get to you. You will never stop missing her & many things won’t ever be the same, but you can eventually find a new normal & the hurt will eventually numb a little.:hugs

I’m sorry to blather on with my unsolicited opinions. It’s a sensitive spot for me I guess. Make sure you’re taking care of yourself & please accept my sincerest condolences!:hugs:hugs:hugs:hugs:hugs:hugs:hugs

@Cynthia12 What she said...

And underline the "in waves" part. That was interesting for me... going through grief... to be fine, and then whack, and then fine. :idunno

:hugs

I am so sorry for the pain and grief that I am sure you feel. :hugs
