Welcome to my pond - Swim, wade, or sit on the bank

I’ve done broken one of the dogs. :( The black pug, Monkey jumped off the bed like a dummy & has been limping.

I’m between vets after the fiasco that happened with Roo last year, but have spent all day pouring thru reviews and finally found a place I hope will be a good fit for us. We go in tomorrow afternoon to see how bad the damage is. :he

... The really crazy part about this is the dog is unbelievably smart. I know ‘smart’ & ‘pug’ are not usually synonymous & if he were truly smart he wouldn’t have lost his mind & jumped off the bed, but look how he’s keeping it elevated.

If I weren’t so worried I’d be cracking up.

I don't remember... what was the r9o fiasco?

We don’t want that!

I have decided that mink (and their cousins) are the bane of my existence. When I went out to feed chickens this morning, I found one of my two BRs dead in the run, her neck eaten. (Of course it was the one that was laying). Saw little paw prints in the snow, about 1” across. I had been smelling what I thought was skunk around the coop for the past couple of days, but now I’m wondering if it was a mink - they have a musky odor as well. I used my chicken’s carcass for bait, set the live trap where the varmint went under the coop, and blocked off the corner where I think *it* got in. I also found a roll of wire, hooked one end to the trap and unrolled it several yards from the trap in case the problem is a skunk. I’m hoping I can carefully drag it a ways away from the coop before I shoot it.
Dang. Go get em, Bobbi!!

Sorry about your pup! Poor dude. At least he knows how to rest it! 😊

Sorry in advance for the novel.

We’ve gone to this vet for over 2 decades. She was a tiny hole in the wall when we moved here. Over the years she has moved in to a big practice with a lot of transient vets that work under her. Some are good & some are not, but they are all temporary which makes me think there are problems in house. I started to dislike the owner years ago & I don’t like being treated by a new vet every time she replaces them.

We’ve watched her compassion move from animals to money. Over the years she & her temporary employees have been burning our bridge one match at a time. There are too many things to list & all forgivable on their own, but at some point it started to become too much.

My breaking point came at the end of 2019 when one of her vets was giving Roo meds that I believed were giving him seizures. She had no tolerance for me & no compassion for the dog. On top of $600+ in tests that we had just done she said she thought Roo had a brain tumor & wanted to run an additional $600 Cronins test. I told her that I would not be putting a senior dog thru surgery, chemo & radiation. That pissed her off. When I reminded her that she said she could prescribe seizure medication for him she said that now she wouldn’t if I didn’t do the Cronins tests.

I called her again about the seizure meds roughly a month later when Roo had 9 seizures in a 12hr period. She told the receptionist to tell me she was busy & to tell me to go to the ER. I asked if she could please call me later that day & she never did. Never. Who does that?

A couple weeks later I called to file a complaint with the head vet. The receptionist implied that she was sorry for my loss. They actually assumed the dog was dead, but never bothered to check.

This is the same vet (the owner) that was furious that I was taking my dogs to an actual Doggy Orthodontist for extractions instead of having her do it. After throwing a fit, she actually tried to charge me triple the price I was quoted for blood work when she found out.

There is no way I’m ever bring another animal back there. The place we are going to tomorrow is a further drive, but they have really great reviews, so fingers crossed. 🤞🤞
