Welcome to my pond - Swim, wade, or sit on the bank

Ahh thank for the encouragement I have bought at our local feed store see we as a state have been free of Newcastle. All covid did to us was make every chick we could produce was gone in flash .. Here our little town has not had one covid positive
The demand for chicks is crazy here too. Our little feed store next to the school sold 500 in half an hour!

After two beautiful 70 degree days in a row here, I'm sure not wanting to see the 40's here again for a while, but I guess they'll be here tomorrow

Thought about going fishing today, but the engine light came on in my truck yesterday on the way to my radiation treatment; oxygen sensor went south. Going to get it replaced next week.
When it rains it pours.

Dang! For as long as I’ve been keeping chickens, I have never, ever seen something like that. Maybe I’ll see if a couple of the hens would gat along with her well enough to put them in a separate coop and alternate free range days. I’ll have to put some thought into this.
I took some university level poultry courses offered on line from a European school a few years ago and this topic showed up in the behavioral science stuff. It's unusual but does happen. They presume it's a throw back to the survival instincts of the wild flocks.

Tried grabbing a few chicks from the TSC in the next town on Wednesday. I was told their next delivery was due that morning. Got there before 9 a.m. and they were gone!

Howdy fellow pond splashers,
Warm sun, really cold gusting wind. Feeling like I should have gotten the license of the truck that ran me over as I slept (not a great reaction to my 2nd covid shot) so it's going to be a good day to take a cue from my senior pup peacefully snoring on my lap and just curl up with a warm cuppa and get thru all these new Countryside and of course BYP mags that I have piled up next to my Lazy Boy. Trying very hard to not get in too deep into all these poultry catalogs mixed into the pile. BBL
